TriBeCa, New York City
Jay Z and Beyonce, arguably the music industry’s most famous couple, reside in the downtown Manhattan neighborhood TriBeCa, where glassy condo developments rise next to historic old warehouse buildings. The area was once an industrial hub, but now it’s known for its lofts and luxurious apartments that celebrities love. The median list price for a TriBeCa residence is $3.5 million, one of the highest in the entire city of New York.
Jay and Bey bought into the TriBeCa loft living early. Jay Z closed on a seventh floor penthouse unit in a converted 1929 brick warehouse in 2004. The raw space came with 8,000 interior square feet, 3,000 square feet of terraces, and a price tag of $6.85 million. The neighborhood should provide the couple’s young daughter Blue Ivy with lots of playmates, as it is known for its high ratio of families and fashionable children.
Upper West Side, New York City
The Upper West Side is one of Manhattan’s most prosperous neighborhoods. Not only is it home to rich and famous celebrities, but also bankers, lawyers, media types, and rumpled intellectuals. The area provides breathtaking views overlooking the park and across the river. Residential streets are lined with landmark brownstones and luxurious properties, distinct for their grand prewar architecture.
With median home values hovering around $1.32 million, according to Trulia.com, the neighborhood has attracted celebrities such as actors Denzel Washington and Robert De Niro, singer Mary J Blige, New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler, and Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez.
