A Game Of Thrones: Wale ‘King Slayer’

Although Wale has had a couple of critically acclaimed albums, and a slew reputable guest verses, the DC rapper is still one of the most underrated new school rappers by the masses. In a new track called “King Slayer,” which is part of a mixtape from the HBO show Game Of Thrones, Wale uses his rhymes to show that he belongs in the conversation of best rappers of this generation.

The Game Of Thrones mixtape is called “Catch The Throne” and features other prominent rap artist like Common, Big Boi and Bodega. As reported by billboard.com:

“The free compilation will be available for download on March 11 via SoundCloud at SoundCloud.com/CatchTheThrone, and features a mix of established stars and up-and-comers including Wale, Common, Daddy Yankee, Big Boi and Bodega Bamz. Wale raps the compilation’s theme song, “King Slayer.”

“The other participating rappers composed tracks inspired by specific episodes from the show – Big Boi, Bodega Bamz and Magazeen for Season 1; Kilo Kish, Daddy Yankee and Dominik Omega for Season 2; and Common, Snow Tha Product and Dee Goodz for Season 3. Some artists nerded out more than others – Common makes several allusions to Season 3’s infamous “Red Wedding” in his track (which he will perform at HBO’s South by Southwest party on March 7), while Big Boi has already done the promo circuit for HBO, appearing at a “Game of Thrones”-themed party during NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans last month. “You’ll be able to tell which artists are into the plots in more specific ways, and which are there to celebrate the essence of what hip-hop is,” says Lucinda Martinez, HBO’s senior VP of cultural marketing.”

Game Of Thrones is scheduled to return to TV on April 6, and the Catch The Throne mixtape will debut on SoundCloud on March 11.
