Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd spilled his drink all over the court causing a delay in the final minutes of the Nets’ 99-94 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Player Tyshawn Taylor bumped into Kidd as he walked back to the bench, spilling the drink and causing the hold up.
Kidd explained what happened to the New York Post’s Tim Bontemps after the game and the reporter relayed the information via tweeter:
“Kidd said he dropped his cup in the ‘heat of battle’ late in the fourth quarter, leading to late delay before Meeks FT.”
Some say Kidd may have spilled the drink on purpose to try to gain an advantage. Video shows that Kidd may have said, “Hit me,” prior to Taylor bumping him. The incident happened right before a crucial free throw in a two-point game with the Nets out of timeouts.
