Jeezy and his CTE label imprint are teaming up with Jay Z and his Roc Nation entertainment company. The two long-time collaborators posted a photo on the Internet proclaiming their new venture.
According to thefader.com:
“Looks like Jeezy and his CTE squad will be joining the Roc Nation family, at least in some capacity. Jeezy and Jay both posted a photo that shows them posing together (in front of one of Jay’s Basquiats), with the caption ‘It’s Official Now. CTE x Roc Nation x It’s Tha World.’ Details about their new partnership are short, but it’s being suggested that the “Put On” partners are joining forces to form a new management company, which will help build the brands of Jeezy and his stable of artists.”
“Last week Jeezy got to grumbling about his current label, Def Jam, calling out industry big shots by name on Twitter and threatening to leak his own album if it doesn’t get a release date before Christmas. Maybe this will help get that album of the shelf? Also, earlier this week, Jeezy’s sometimes-collaborator DJ Mustard signed a similar deal with Roc Nation.”
It is not unusual for Jay Z’s Roc Nation deals to be a little unclear. The company has many different divisions which cover sports, a music label and a management company. Seeing that Jeezy is still signed to Def Jam, this new CTE-Roc Nation deal will probably be on the management side of things.
It’s great to see that Jeezy and Jay Z will be working together again as official business partners. Back in 2006 when Jay Z “retired” from music, he became the president of Def Jam Records and he was instrumental in starting the careers of Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Rick Ross and of course Jeezy.
Rihanna is already a part of Roc Nation on the management side, and the company also works closely with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music, so it’s only right that Jeezy and Jay Z officially collaborate again.
