The ugly exchanges between R&B girl group TLC and their one-time manager Pebbles Reid continues. On Wednesday, Pebbles visited the Wendy Williams television talk show to discuss the veracity of the TLC biopic as well as the growing rumor, reignited by her daughter Ashley, that Chili had an affair with her then-husband L.A Reid.
When asked if she believed Chili and Reid were having an affair, Pebbles said: “Absolutely. I didn’t know. I suspected a couple of things, but I didn’t want to believe that. And for years, I didn’t want to believe that because I felt like they were daughters to me. I am going to write my book and put it in there [why I believe Chilli was sleeping with L.A.], but believe me when I say, I saw a couple of things.”
Pebbles also discussed whether she was behind a campaign to kick Chili out of TLC.
“[I] Absolutely [did] not [kick Chilli out of the group]. T-Boz and Left Eye did because of what they said was happening in the studio… This is what they said to me.”
In a move that demonstrated their solidarity, Chili and T-Boz released a statement contesting Pebbles’ claims.
“No member of TLC ever slept with or had sexual contact with LA Reid as Perri falsely accused Chilli of on “The Wendy Williams Show.” In fact, Perri had falsely alleged the same thing happened with Tionne.”
The statement continued:
“I would like to confirm that Perri Reid was the only person who ever suggested that Chilli leave TLC. Neither Lisa nor I ever wanted or suggested that.”
