‘Thor: The Dark World’ Inspires Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Episode Crossover

Thor and Agent Culson

Marvel is never short of clever marketing ploys.  The company has implemented a feature film strategy that used one film to set up or promote another, and now they are doing the same thing with television. According to an Entertainment Weekly report, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is producing a crossover episode to accompany the upcoming film “Thor: The Dark World.”

According to the episode description:

“In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of SHIELD pick up the pieces — one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.”

“Thor: The Dark World” will debut in theaters Nov. 8.  The Nov. 19 episode of S.H.I.E.L.D., “The Well,” will continue where the film left off.”

The episode will feature a number of guest stars,  but Chris Hemsworth or any of the other Thor 2 stars were not included in the announcement.

EW reports that the episode is directed by sci-fi TV luminary Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation), who previously directed an episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-creator Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.
