Rising Star: Janelle Monae Performs on SNL

Janelle Monae performed on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” last night, proving that her career is finally getting the recognition that is deserves. Monae performed her two latest singles “Electric Lady,” the title track off her new album and the upbeat “Dance Apocalyptic.” As reported by soulculture.co.uk:

“Continuing her promo run for her critically acclaimed album release The Electric Lady, last night the one and only Janelle Monae made her Saturday Night Live debut as a musical guest.

“Introduced by actor Edward Norton, the Kansas City born singer, songwriter, producer and android hit the stage with her full Wondaland Arts Society band to deliver performances of standout tracks from the new LP, ‘Electric Lady’ and ‘Dance Apocalyptic’.”

Janelle Monae recently released her second studio album “Electric Lady” last month, and she’s been receiving critical acclaim. This week Monae was named Billboard’s next “Rising Star,” in recognition of her meteoric rise to the top.
