Blair Underwood’s ‘Ironside’ Canceled By NBC

Blair Underwood’s turn as detective Robert T. Ironside has come to an end after NBC announced “Ironside” has been canceled.

The 1970s spinoff, which followed Blair as a paraplegic cop, was given the ax after just three episodes. Spencer Grammer and Pablo Schreiber also starred. The show premiered to 6.8 million viewers in September, and has slipped quite a bit since then.

According to NBC, “Ironside” will be replaced by new episodes of “Dateline” and holiday-themed specials of “Saturday Night Live” in November and December on Wednesdays at 10 p.m ET. Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble holiday specials will also fill the slot on Dec. 11 and Dec. 18, respectively.

“Chicago Fire” spinoff of “Chicago PD” will take the timeslot on Jan. 8, reports the Huffington Post.

It’s sad to see Underwood yanked from the small screen since so few shows are cast with an African-American lead.
