Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey will finally return to the team’s active roster.
Bailey had a good week of practice and will play for the first time this season against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday. The cornerback has not played since injuring his left foot in a preseason game against Seattle.
“He’s all set,” coach John Fox said after Friday’s practice. ” … We’re excited to have Champ back. He’s had an outstanding week.”
Cornerback Chris Harris suffered a concussion in the 51-48 win over the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday. It was questionable whether he would play this week, but the team announced that he will suit up.
“I’m real excited because he’s been a great player, a guy I’ve been watching since he came into the league and I’ve seen what he’s done here,” Bailey said about Harris. “And I think we’ll be good together. We’ll feed off each other.”
”We also got Chris (Harris), who will be in there most of the time, so it’s going to be a good one.”
The Broncos gave up 506 yards and five touchdowns to Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo last weekend, Bailey’s return should help their secondary.
