Leaky Business: New Google Nexus 5 Phone Specs Leaked Again

nexus-5-leakGoogle’s flagship smartphone from last year, Nexus 4, was a relative success for the company. Now the company is looking to repeat that outcome. Now that consumers can no longer purchase the Nexus 4 device, analysts are expecting an announcement of a Nexus 5 device soon. There have been many leaks to substantiate that idea, the  latest one comes from Android Police, giving an in-depth look into the specs of the device. According to theverge.com:

“What appears to be an internal repair manual for Google’s upcoming Nexus 5 flagship phone reveals pretty much everything there is to know about the device, filling in what blanks remain after an LG FCC filing went public last month. The draft document was leaked to Android Police, and between the schematics and disassembly instructions it contains a comprehensive list of the device’s specs. The 4.95-inch 1080p IPS LCD display is confirmed, as is LTE compatibility and the 2,300mAh battery. The document also reveals that the phone will have a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, along with an 8-megapixel rear camera, Qi wireless charging, and NFC.”

LTE was a glaring omission on the Nexus 4, so users will be glad to know that it will be included in the upcoming model. Google has also stuck to the script by offering a stock Android phone that is essentially the same as the current LG flagship device. The leaked specs show a phone that is near identical to LG’s G2 smartphone. If this turns out to be the case, the Nexus 5 will be a compelling device, as most analysts were happy with the G2’s hardware—they didn’t like the Android OS skin. So a device running pure Android may be very appealing to Android enthusiasts.

There is no official release date for the Nexus 5, but since the Nexus 4 was released at the end of October last year, a similar timeframe should be expected.
