Kendrick Lamar has been the talk of the hip-hop game since dropping a verse on Big Sean’s “Control,” putting some of his contemporaries on notice. Since then fans have been raving about how he’s changed the game, reintroducing hip-hop’s competitive spirit. There’s been a plethora of responses to Kendrick’s verse, but very few from the artists he actually dissed. Most of those artists have said they’re still cool with Lamar, and his diss was in the spirit of competition. Drake echoed those sentiments as well during a few interviews for his “Nothing Was The Same” album. However, he did add that he wished Kendrick wasn’t so nice when the two met after the verse. He may have responded differently.
Now Lamar seems to have taken a subliminal shot at Drizzy. Last weekend, BET hosted its annual Hip Hop Awards, now a snippet has surfaced of Kendrick’s jab at Drake. According to vibe.com:
“This past weekend, the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards were taped in Atlanta and hosted a plethora of cyphers including one with Top Dawg Entertainment. A snippet of Kendrick’s contribution has surfaced and once again, Drizzy is the subject.”
“Yeah…and nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control’/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his Pajama Clothes,” the Compton kid raps. “Ha-ha jokes on you, high-five…..I’m bulletproof/ Your sh*ts a never penetrate, pin the tail on the donkey boy you been a fake….” raps Kendrick.
Although he doesn’t call out Drake by name, fans of the genre assume Lamar refers to Drake as the “sensitive rapper.” The BET Hip Hop Awards are scheduled to air Oct. 15, when viewers can decide for themselves if Lamar dissed Drake.
