A clip of Steve McQueen’s “12 Years A Slave” was released online, featuring a moment in the film where Solomon Northup, a free man played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is purchasing a bag for his wife and comes in contact with a slave.
“12 Years Slave,” which has received lots of Oscar buzz, opens in theaters October 18th in select cities initially, opening in the following weeks.
In addition to Ejifor, the cast boasts Kelsey Scott, Quvenzhané Wallis, and Cameron Zeigler as his immediate family. The entire cast list is as follows: Michael K. Williams, Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Ruth Negga, Adepero Oduye, Alfre Woodard, Lupita Nyong’o, Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Scoot McNairy, Garret Dillahunt, Paul Giamatti, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The story is set in antebellum U.S., where Solomon Northup, a free, black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery.
The clip is definitely worth watching.
