Within two days of being awarded a Best Actor Emmy for portraying anchor Will McAvoy in HBO’s drama, “The Newsroom,” Jeff Daniels has returned to a more serious role. This one is worthy of his considerable talents: Harry Dunne, the character he first played in the Farrelly brothers’ 1994 hit, “Dumb & Dumber.”
On Tuesday morning, Daniels tweeted a picture of himself and co-star Jim Carrey reunited in the costumes they wore for the original film. “We’re back!!!” wrote Daniels, confirming filming for “Dumb and Dumber To” has begun.
After Daniels’ surprise Emmy win Sunday night, he went backstage and told reporters:
“We’re going to party ’til dawn and then I’m going to get on a plane and go to Atlanta and start shooting ‘Dumb and Dumber To,'” Daniels told reporters backstage on Sunday following his victory. “The intellectual free-fall from [Will] MacAvoy to Harry Dunn, imagine if you will.”
Earlier this month, Carrey posted his own “Dumb and Dumber To” photo on Twitter of his mouth in character, complete with the signature chipped-tooth smile. He captioned it, “GESS HUUZ BAK BICHEZ?”
“Dumb and Dumber To” is scheduled to hit theaters in 2014.
