Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same” album is scheduled to be released on Sept. 24, but it was leaked on the Internet on Sunday evening, giving fans a chance to listen to the new record early.
Fans have been wondering about one intriguing track, Pound Cake featuring Jay Z, ever since the album’s track list was released.
According to vibe.com:
“A picture of Drake in the lab with Hov surfaced back in May. The caption read,’Warning: Please be very afraid of the music we’re working on. OVO x ROCNATION.’ Over whispery vocals, Drizzy and Jigga take turns rapping on Pound Cake. The track was produced by Boi-1da, Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett. Jay Z gives subtle shout-outs to Rihanna’s Birthday Cake and Kanye West’s No Church In The Wild on his verse.
“For Paris Morton Music 2, Drake does it alone, freestyling about why he is the greatest of his generation. “Like I didn’t study the game to the letter, and understand that I’m not doing it the same, I’m doing it better.'”
After the leak, Drake’s label moved into damage control to take the album down from the Web. But because of the leak they may to move up the Nothing Was The Same release date. The album was originally set to be released on Sept. 17, but was delayed to Sept. 24, so time will tell if the label will end up releasing it close to the original date.
