New York Jets’ Geno Smith had both good times and bad times against the New England Patriots on Thursday. The rookie quarterback threw three interceptions and was sacked four times in the Jets’ 13-10 loss to the Pats Thursday. Several Jets receivers missed passes also, adding to Smith’s tough part of the night.
“Geno had his (good) moments,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “I don’t know how many balls we dropped today, but it was a bunch.”
The Patriots also had a sloppy night of play and only managed just nine first downs in their win.
“We have a long way to go,” Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said. “No one is coming to (our) rescue and save the day, so we’ve just got to fight through it.”
Smith’s three interceptions came in the fourth quarter, after the Jets cut into the Patriots lead to 13-10 on Bilal Powell’s 3-yard touchdown run with 5:05 left in the third quarter.
