“The Wedding Ringer,” starring Kevin Hart and directed by Jeremy Garelick kicks off production today.
With Hart as the lead, Josh Gad, Kaley Cuoco, Mimi Rogers, Affion Crockett and Ken Howard are also cast for the film. A complete list of the supporting cast is as follows: Olivia Thirlby, Jorge Garcia, Cloris Leachman, Dan Gill, Corey Holcomb, Colin Kane, Jenifer Lewis, Alan Ritchson, Ignacio Serricchio, Aaron Takahashi, and Nicky Whelan.
The film follows Jimmy (Hart) as a charismatic guy who provides best man services for socially awkward men who can’t get anybody to agree to stand by them on their wedding day. The storyline has Doug (Gad) as a groom-to-be who finds himself in just such a situation. Making matters worse, he fabricates the names of not only a best man, but nine groomsmen as well. When all else fails, he seeks out Jimmy’s services to carry out a charade designed to make him look his best, but threatens to destroy everything if it fails.
According to Deadline, “The Wedding Ringer” will be Garelick’s directing debut. Hart recently completed filming the second season of his hit show “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”
