‘RoboCop’ Trailer Features Sleek New Suit, Action-Packed Footage

The first “RoboCop trailer has been released by Columbia Pictures. The Jose Padilha-directed movie is a remake of the 1987 film that follows a fatally wounded cop who is transformed into a cyborg.

In the sci-fi action film, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. The company has been racking up billions making drones to fight wars overseas, and now they want to bring their controversial technology to the home front, seeing a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy, a loving husband, father and cop doing his best to fight crime and corruption in Detroit, is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp seizes the opportunity to create  a part-man, part-robot police officer. With their sights set on putting RoboCops in every city and the resulting billions in revenue, OmniCorp is blindsided by one big thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Aside from Kinnaman, “RoboCop  stars Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Jay Baruchel and Jennifer Ehle. The  film is set to hit theaters February 7, 2014.
