Brandy Concert: Singer Denies South African Concert Rumors

R&B singer Brandy is clearing up rumors that she performed to 40 people at concert in South Africa.

According to initial reports, Brandy was scheduled to perform at the Nelson Mandela Sports and Cultural Day concert, but walked off the stage after performing only two songs.

According to tweets captured by LA Times, many patrons didn’t know the singer was even in the country.

“Brandy [just] performed to an empty stadium. With the stadium lights on,” tweeted Kabomo, a South African musician. “It was late. People didn’t know there was a concert after the games. No one knew Brandy was around. Maybe a 40 people audience … She sulked after two songs and walked off.”

Brandy’s representative released a statement to TheYbf.com:

“She was booked at the last minute to fly to South Africa to support a ’cause’–not a concert. It was a cause that honored ‘Mr. Nelson Mandela’ and there were other performers on the bill besides Brandy. She attended because she wanted to support the foundation and Mr. Mandela…a man who has changed history.

This whole story has been blown out of proportion and Brandy has sold-out shows across the world including South Africa before.”
