Sebastian, a junior starting safety from McDonough, hit runing back Jeffrey Coprich on a run and went down immediately under the lights at Memorial Stadium. For more than 15 minutes Sebastian did not move. While medical staff worked on Sebastian, his teammates were huddled in the north end zone, then sent to the locker room.
Sebastian was strapped to a gurney, with his head and neck fully secured, and taken by ambulance to Highland Hospital in Oakland.
According to the athletic department, Sebastian had movement in all his extremities and was expected to be released.
“I want to thank everyone for their positive thoughts and prayers,” Sebastian said in the statement.
