WWE star Randy Orton is expected to withstand forearm blows to the back of the head, drop kicks to the chest and even roundhouse kicks to the face. However, nobody expects the wrestler take what happened to him Tuesday night, when a fan entered the ring and clocked him in the groin at during a company event in Cape Town, South Africa.
You can watch the attack happen in the video above. Orton stood on the ropes with his arms raised in victory when the fan jumped the railing and blindsided the wrestler with an uppercut to the groin.
The fan was quickly detained by security, but Orton’s celebratory mood quickly turned to rage. The 6-foot-5 inch, 230-pound Orton attempted to kick the fan, but missed, settling with flipping him the bird as he was dragged away.
The WWE issued a statement:
“WWE.com has learned that Randy Orton was violently attacked by an audience member during a SmackDown World Tour Live Event in Cape Town, South Africa, this evening. Footage of the attack was captured by a WWE fan and posted to YouTube, and shows the perpetrator striking Orton from behind. The matter is currently under investigation by the local authorities, and the South African fan is being held in jail pending criminal charges. The extent of Orton’s injuries are unknown at this time.”
