Alex Rodriguez Wants to be a Role Model Despite Steroid Use

Alex Rodriguez recently sat down with Sports Illustrated, explaining that he still wants “to be a role model” despite the controversy surrounding his steroid use.

“Look, it’s concerning,” Alex Rodriguez told the magazine. “I have two daughters at home, and I’m sensitive to that, and above all, I want to be a role model, continue to be a role model — especially to my girls. So all the noise sometimes gets on my nerves, but that’s it. I can’t let it get any further than that. I have a job to do.”

Rodriguez is currently in the middle of a multiple-player steroid scandal involving the debunked company, Biogenesis.

A-Rod and 20 other players are expected to be suspended for their relationship to Anthony Bosch, founder of Biogenesis—an anti-aging clinic accused of providing performance-enhancing drugs to the players.

Alex Rodriguez, who has admitted to steroid use in the past, has denied the new allegations. Major League Baseball, on the other hand, says they have concrete evidence that the slugger has been using the performance-enhancing drug, P.E.D. again, and is preparing to hand down suspensions to Rodriguez and other players with ties to Biogenesis.

“I’m not giving up,” Rodriguez told Sports Illustrated. “I have tremendous faith, and hopefully there’s a couple more chapters to this book. And hopefully there’s a happy ending somewhere. I have faith.”
