All publicity is good publicity right?
Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank of the latest R&B supergroup, TGT, is soaking up the attention after a video surfaced of their awkward live performance on WLNY’s The Couch last week.
The trio, promoting their debut collaborative effort, “Three Kings,” which is set to drop in August, performed their latest single, “I Need You.” Very early in the performance however, it is clear that 42-year-old Ginuwine was struggling to remain focused. The “Pony” singer repeatedly blinked his eyes, swayed his head back and forth, and stroked his thighs while swinging his legs from side to side.
The performance, not surprisingly, was mocked throughout social media with many accusing Ginuwine of being on drugs. It didn’t help that his bandmate Tyrese couldn’t mask his anger.
Ginuwine took the criticism in stride and poked fun at himself on Twitter:
“Obviously I need eye drops lololol,” he tweeted. “Ohhhh wweeee lololol…I need to take two more since I’m poppn now lololololololol what insanity…I’m going to always perform in the morning so I can blink blink blink blink blink…Sometimes you gotta laugh at yourself own it just to let yah know tho thts never been in my life so form what ever opinion u hav GROWN.”
Tyrese jokingly added, “Fellas ya’ll gotta get it together….My performance was great.”
On Tuesday the trio did an interview with Street Heat TV. Ginuwine denied using the drug Molly, explaining that he drank a 5-hour ENERGY drink, while Tyrese urged viewers to pre-order the album and for media outlets to continue talking about them. Wish granted. Wednesday morning “Tyrese, Ginuwine, Tank” remained a trending topic. Watch the videos below:
