Robin Thicke Top UK Charts And Talks New Video

Robin Thicke’s  new album Blurred Lines debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. charts this week. The R&B star knocked off last week’s No. 1, Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail to gain the top spot. According to independent.com.uk:

“The U.S.  R&B star’s sixth studio album Blurred Lines has relegated Beyonce’s husband’s Magna Carta Holy Grail into second place.

“Blurred Lines is Thicke’s second U.K. top 40 album, with his 2007 second album The Evolution Of Robin Thicke peaking at number 30 six years ago this month.”

In reaction to the news, Thicke issued a statement to the press saying, “Thank you for making my new album No. 1 in the UK! This is a dream come true. I hope everyone enjoys it. Peace, love, and sexy!”

However it wasn’t all number ones for Robin this week, as the title single “Blurred Lines” was knocked to No. 2 on the UK charts.

As reported by nme.com:

“Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ single is knocked off No. 1 on the official singles chart by Swedish DJ/producer Avicii, whose club-banger ‘Wake Me Up’ becomes the fastest-selling single of 2013 so far after selling 267,000 copies in its first week of release. The year’s previous fastest-seller was ‘Blurred Lines,’ which sold 191,000 copies in seven days back in May.”

This isn’t bad news at all for actress Paula Patton’s husband, as the ‘Blurred Lines’ single just passed a million in sales this week, and the controversial video for the song has garnered plenty of buzz for Thicke.

And speaking of videos, Thicke did sit down with MTV to discuss how he could top the very successful video with his next single, “Give It 2 U.” As he told mtv.com:

“We’re gonna have to see if President Obama will be in it,” Thicke joked. [And if the president isn’t available] “We’re thinking about coming up with a synchronized swimming thing, where 2 Chainz and Kendrick do some leg kicks and maybe some flips in the water.”

“I don’t know if they’re down for it though,” he joked, insisting, “You won’t see me in a pool. You’ll have to get an illegal shot over the fence.”

We look forward to seeing what the Blurred Lines star has up is sleeve next. In the meantime check out the interview below.
