First Look: ‘Savannah’ Trailer Debut

“Savannah” is a work of historical fiction based on real events during post-Civil War era and stars Jim Caviezel as Ward Allen. As the well-educated, eccentric,  and larger-than-life hunter, Allen develops a unique friendship with a freed slave named Christmas Moultrie, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The film is loosely based on a book by John Eugene Cay Jr. titled, “Ducks, Dogs and Friends.” It tells the story of Christmas Moultrie. The last slave born on the historic Mulberry Grove Plantation-where the cotton gin was invented, Moultrie hunts on the Savannah River with Ward Allen and his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

Ketchup Entertainment has set Savannah to release in theaters August 23rd.
