Joe Dumar, the Pistons‘ president of basketball operations, confirmed that the team and Billups have come to terms with a new contract that will see the five-time All-Star, player back in Mo-Town.
“I never wanted to leave here. Everyone knows that,” he said on January 26, 2011, after helping Denver excel over Detroit in a game. “I wanted to retire here.”
Since trading Billups, the Pistons are in a four-year postseason drought and have a record of 148-244. While there, he was named Finals MVP in 2004 when he led the Pistons to an NBA championship. According to sources, he and the organization have agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal.
