Kanye West Delivers Strong Endorsement of ‘Pacific Rim’

Kanye West is a music producer, rapper, song writer, fashion designer, and now movie critic.

His new profession comes just as Guillermo del Toro’s film, Pacific Rim, has been the subject of some negative press and described by some as a Battleship let down of this summer.

In true Kanye West fashion, the rap artist has sprung into action to right the wrongs of the industry.

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. can thank West for a tweet to his 9 million followers saying: “I saw a pre-screening of Pacific Rim yesterday and it’s easily one of my favorite movies of all time. …This is not another ‘Robot’ movie. Guillermo del Toro is a master.”

According to MTV, West got a chance to see Pacific Rim  because Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA invited him to a special screening in Los Angeles Tuesday night.

MTV speculated West’s endorsement could be a good thing for the film:

“…perhaps a glowing review from none other than Yeezus himself will put the Jaegers and Kaiju of  Pacific Rim firmly on moviegoers’ maps.”

West aka “Yeezus” is famous for being trigger-happy with his opinion, but rarely is it taken as gospel. Still, free advertisement from one of the biggest stars in the world can’t hurt too much.

Pacific Rim depicts an alien invasion of Earth that forces humans to respond by building giant robots called Jaegers to battle giant monsters called Kaiju. The film stars Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman, and it’s set to hit theaters on July 12.
