Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: Manny Ramirez Signs With Texas Rangers

Manny Ramirez paraded around in the Taiwanese baseball league for a year and now he has signed to another American Major League Baseball team. Well, not quite major league.

The 41-year-old outfielder on Wednesday announced he has signed a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers, the proceeds of which Ramirez says he will give to charity.

“[My salary] is the minimum wage, but for me it’s too much money,” Ramirez told ESPNDeportes.com’s Enrique Rojas.

The team assigned Ramirez to work out with the Triple-A Round Rock before he plays in a game. “He has to earn our consideration first,” Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels said.

“I will play and I’ll be ready,” the slugger said. “I only have to go and play and do well as I did in Taiwan. No commitments. I feel blessed spiritually; I have no words to describe how happy I am.”

The last time Ramirez played in the majors was in 2011, when he suited-up five games for the Tampa Bay Rays.
