Sources Claim Paris Jackson Didn’t Intend to Kill Herself

With reports that Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson’s daughter, slashed her wrist with a meat cleaver and swallowed a bunch of Motrin in what the police have classified a “suicide attempt,” speculation is popping up across the web that Paris wasn’t really trying to kill herself because she called a suicide prevention hotline.

“She wanted attention,” a law enforcement source told TMZ, which broke the story. “It makes no sense if you really want to die to call a hotline, where the person on the other end will get an ambulance over to your house.”

“Who takes Motrin to kill themselves?” the source added. “She called the suicide hotline because she wanted the attention and wanted to make sure EMTs got there in time.”

Paris’ travails have been media fodder since the day her father was buried three years ago. Last summer, she sent the entertainment and gossip media into a frenzy with her social media posts trashing her famous family members, including her aunt, Janet Jackson, and her uncle Jermaine. Paris evoked both sympathy and scorn, with many observers calling her a spoiled child for her outbursts as she wondered why her grandmother, Katherine Jackson, had left her and her siblings behind.

At the time, CNN broadcast surveillance video showing Aunt Janet attempting to take 14-year-old Paris’ cell phone from her. Authorities were called to break up a scuffle at the Jackson family home after that event.

The tense saga ended with a Los Angeles judge appointing her uncle, TJ Jackson, to share guardianship responsibilities for the three children with their grandmother.

Paris captured the public’s heart at her father’s funeral, when she stepped to the mic, flanked by her uncles and her aunt Janet, and said, “Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” the 11-year-old said through tears, as relatives patted and comforted her. “And I just want to say, that I love him so much.”

With this incident, Paris reached out to a suicide counseling hot line, which resulted in a counselor at the hot line contacting 911 and dispatching emergency pesonnel to the Jackson home in Calabasas, California. Other Jackson sources stopped short of calling the incident a suicide attempt, although one suggested it might be “a cry for help.”

“Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are,” attorney Perry Sanders said. “It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you.”

Paris has been keen on making her mark as an actress, signing to star in the upcoming film, “Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys,” based on children’s fantasy novels.

“You can be like a totally different person on camera and it’s fun,” Paris told Winfrey. “You can take on another character and it’s awesome.”

Paris has even been a cheerleader for her high school’s basketball team.
