Tom Cruise has taken on another mission under alias agent Ethan Hunt. Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have both confirmed the veteran actor has signed a deal to star in and produce the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, according to a Deadline report.
Of course this comes as no surprise since the last installment, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, made on a $145 million budget, busted up the box office with a global haul of nearly $700 million, the most a Cruise film has ever raked in.
It is unclear, however, who will direct Mission: Impossible 5. Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote and directed “Jack Reacher” for Paramount and Cruise, seemed to be at the top of the short list, tweeting in February earlier this year he was “deciding to accept the Mission: Impossible 5” job. But there has been no other developments in regard ot the tweet, which has since been deleted.
