All 35 of the Atlanta educators indicted in the school district’s cheating scandal, including the former superintendent of schools, have signaled to a judge that they will fight the charges.
Beverly Hall joined 20 other defendants Friday, entering not guilty pleas. Each defendant waived his or her right to a formal reading of the charges. Fourteen others did the same at a hearing on Thursday.
Outside the courthouse Friday, several of Hall’s supporters held signs and rallied to draw attention to the positive aspects of Hall’s tenure at the school district.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter said Thursday that he will require each of the indicted educators to have separate attorneys. Baxter said he wants to prevent conflicts of interest down the road.
