Kelsey Grammer is staying in the bad guy lane. After shedding his lovable Frasier Crane image to play a nefarious politician in Starz’s Boss, the actor has signed on to play a villain in Paramount’s Transformers 4.
Grammer will appear in the fourth installment of the franchise as a character named Harold Attinger, described as a counter intelligence agent and the main human antagonist in the movie.
The actor will join fellow new cast members Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz in the film, which takes place four years after Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Director Michael Bay says the film will fall in line with its predecessors, but will still be vastly different.
“To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom,” Bay said. “The history of the first three movies is still there … [but] there’s a reason why we’re meeting a new cast.”
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy, Ian Bryce and Tom DeSanto will produce Transformers 4, which Paramount has scheduled for release into June 27, 2014.
