Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has Emergency Surgery for Hernial Tears

The actor-wrestler was injured earlier this month while defending his title at Wrestlemania 26.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is recovering from hernia surgery.

“Surgery a success! Dr repaired 3 hernial tears (fun pain). Superman is on the mend.. #WeFallWeRise,” the 40-year-old actor-wrestler tweeted Tuesday with a photo of himself in a hospital bed, wearing a Superman T-shirt and hospital cap while flexing his muscles.

Johnson missed the premiere of his upcoming movie, Pain & Gain, in Los Angeles on Monday, as a result of the surgery. He is now recovering at home.

On Sunday, he shared with his 4.5 million Twitter followers that he would be having the operation.

“Saw my Dr who had to push my intestines back thru the tear in my abdomen,” he wrote. “Kinda romantic. Surgery is next week. #BringItOn.”

Earlier this month, he tweeted about the April 7 incident during Wrestlemania 26 — where he wrestled John Cena to defend his championship title — that caused the hernia.

“In the middle of last nights Wrestlemania match I tore my abdomen & adductor muscles off the bone. Just part of the job. But as we know.. ..It’s all about #JustBringIt. WWE Universe THANK YOU for all the love & well wishes. Means everything to me. #LeaveItAllInTheRing,” he wrote.

Pain & Gain, which also stars Mark Wahlberg, opens Friday. Johnson also is in the upcoming Fast & Furious 6, which hits theaters May 24, and recently starred in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
