On this week’s Glee season 4, episode 19, “Sweet Dreams,” when the members of New Directions learn that the theme of this year’s Regionals is “Dreams”, everyone has his/her own opinion as to what they should sing. Meanwhile, the day has finally come for Rachel to audition for the Broadway revival of “Funny Girl”.
Glee is based on an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the school’s once top-flight, but now moribund Glee Club and inspire a group of talented but unfocused performers to make it to, and win, the biggest competition of them all: Nationals. In his way is not just the indifferent principal, but also the sponsors of the cheerleading and football groups both of whom see his efforts as detracting from their own.
In addition to the regular cast, GLEE has featured guest appearances by a wide range of talented performers, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Carol Burnett, John Stamos, Britney Spears, Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Molly Shannon, Olivia Newton-John and Neil Patrick Harris, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
