Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were ordered to appear for a mandatory hearing in Los Angeles on Friday, but Kim’s ex was a no-show and has further delayed the divorce process – something Kim has been afraid of.
In the trailer for the new season of Keeping up with the Kardashians we hear Kim express her concern that she will have her and Kanye’s baby while being married to another man. It seems like those fears just might come true since her estranged ex doesn’t seem to be taking the divorce hearings too seriously.
According to E! the NBA star is blaming his absence on some issues at the airport:
Humphries’ team of attorneys was present, and a source exclusively tells E! News that the Brooklyn Nets baller is claiming that there was purportedly a delay or cancellation of sorts with his scheduled flight to Los Angeles, hence the no-show.
The insider also alleges that there was no settlement agreed to prior to today’s hearing.
Kris won’t be getting away with this one, however, as a family law specialist told E! that this could result in some serious consequences for the star:
Certified Family Law Specialist Lynn Soodik, who is not involved in the case, tells E! that if Kris Humphries did not get the permission of the court to appear telephonically, then he could be in contempt of court for not obeying the court’s direct order to appear. Soodik says the court on occasion does grant requests for parties to appear via telephone if they could not appear in person. But not coming in person does not bode well for one’s case.
“It’s a really bad if he didn’t appear and he didn’t get permission not to be here,” Soodik tells E! “It seems like it’s not as important to him.”
Friday’s mandatory hearing was yet another chance for the reality star and her bitter ex to settle out of court, but with Kris failing to show up it doesn’t seem like an out of court settlement will be happening.
Either way, it seems like Kim K will walk away as the victor from all this because Humphries has officially set their divorce trial judge off.
Sources tell TMZ that Judge Goldberg was furious with the famous athlete and wants to slap him with some serious fines:
We’re told in court today … Judge Goldberg went nuclear, saying Kris could have caught a flight and that he mocked and disrespected the court.
Judge Goldberg was so pissed … he set a sanction hearing — meaning Kris may be hit with fines for being a no-show.
There was obviously no settlement reached today … We’re told both Kim and Kris must appear on the 19th for a pre-trial readiness/settlement conference. Kris better show.
Kim, on the other hand, did make it to the mandatory hearing with quite the entourage.
For the first time there wasn’t a mob of camera men swirling around the reality star.
No, this time it was a swarm of police officers.
Kris may not be taking things seriously but the LAPD sure is and they dispatched ten County Sheriffs to sector Kim to safety after she left the mandatory hearing.
The original May 6 date for the divorce trail remains and both stars are expected to take the stand for several hours.
