CW’s ‘Arrow’ Episode 17: “The Huntress Returns”

On this week’s episode of the CW TV show Arrow, “The Huntress Returns,” with his nightclub set to open and a new romance brewing with McKenna, Oliver is as happy as he’s been since returning to Starling City. But when Oliver’s ex, The Huntress, suddenly returns to town, she threatens to destroy everything and everyone he cares about. Meanwhile, Laurel and her father struggle with the return of Dinah Lance who claims she has proof Sara is still alive. Thea gets Roy Harper a job at Oliver’s club, but he’s not too inclined to stop his life of crime. Oliver and Tommy are thrilled they were able to get Steve Aoki to play at the opening of their new nightclub, Verdant.

CW’s Arrow revolves around billionaire playboy Oliver Queen being missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific, after a violent shipwreck. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.

By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine. The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

I’m glad that new episodes and The Huntress are both back. It’s a great day for Arrow fans, and I work at DISH with plenty of friends who will be tuning in tonight, too. I’m even saving this entire 23-episode season to my DISH Hopper, so I can relive it all during summer break. I won’t have to compromise anything else from TV lineup while doing so, because my hard drive stores up to 2,000 hours of entertainment.
