Cedric the Entertainer Becomes New Host of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'

Comedian Cedric the Entertainer recently announced his new position as host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

He will begin hosting this fall as he replaces Meredith Vieira, who anchored the popular game show for 11 seasons after the launch of the weekday version in 2002.

Vierira recently went public with her decision to retire as host, stating that she is ready to pursue other opportunities.

According to USA Today, Millionaire’s viewing audience is down 10 percent from last year and noticeably lagging behind competing shows such as Family Feud, which is hosted by fellow comedian Steve Harvey.

But Millionaire’s new host just may revive ratings.

“We are thrilled to announce that Cedric ‘The Entertainer’ will be at the helm as our new host of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” said Janice Marinelli, president of Disney-ABC Domestic Television. “With his deep roots as a successful stand-up comedian and actor, Cedric will bring his fresh approach and unpredictable fun to the show.”

While Cedric The Entertainer may not exactly be on the list of top funniest comedians, he will surely add more humor to the show make it more competitive with similar television series.
