Rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly suffered a series of seizures, landing him in Cedar-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. Wayne, 30, had two similar episodes last October, and was prescribed seizure medication. Representatives for the rapper did not mention the seizures in the days immediately following his hospitalization, but did confirm that he had received treatment for a severe migraine and dehydration. TMZ reports that Wayne suffered his latest seizure on Tuesday while filming the music video for Nicki Minaj’s new single, “High School.”
In a seemingly unrelated incident Minaj, Wayne’s Young Money Cash Money label mate, was caught in a bit of a blunder during Wednesday’s episode of American Idol, arriving late for the show’s live airing. She managed to slip in 13 minutes into the episode, with host Ryan Secrest blaming the judge’s lateness on highway traffic. She was visible dressed down for the occasion as well, wearing a black hoodie drawn up over her head while giving critiques.
“I hear she is seven minutes out and there is some congestion on the 405 (highway). She should be here momentarily,” Seacrest explained from Minaj’s judging seat at the top of the show. “Well, the show must go on, so let’s get the party started.”
The show certaintly did go on, with Minaj failing to make the stage before contestant Curtis Finch Jr. finished the night’s first performance. However, she still managed to hear Finch’s performance backstage, and congratulated him behind the scenes.
“Nicki wasn’t there. I was like, ‘Where are you Nicki? I need you now, now, now.’ I always look forward to what she’s going to say, so I feel that there was a missing piece of the puzzle,” Finch told Us Magazine. “When I got done singing, she was standing right there. She was like ‘Good job,’ so I felt like she was still there for me.”
