Kristen Wiig will shine on the big screen yet again. Her newest pet project, the indie film entitled Girl Most Likely, will have a limited release in the U.S. this July.
Girl Most Likely (formerly known as Imogene) follows Imogene (Kristen Wiig) after her live in boyfriend dumps her. Imogene plans an elaborate suicide attempt to win him back, but ends up being forced to move in with her mother (Annette Bening) and her live in boyfriend George Bouche (Matt Dillon). She comes home only to find out that her room is being rented to a Backstreet Boy cover band front man Lee (Glee’s Darren Criss). As you can tell from the trailer, not only does Wiig end up “sharing a bed” with her cute new roommate (if you catch my drift), but she also begins to love and appreciate her dysfunctional family she was so desperately trying to distance herself from.
After making it big with Bridesmaids and leaving SNL to focus on movie making, most expected Wiig to go on a moneymaking big movie spree. While Wiig does have some blockbuster movies coming up, like Anchorman: The Legend Continues, she has no plans to sell out completely. Wiig has been particularly dedicated to this film and making sure it hits theaters. Wiig’s post-Bridesmaids success is probably a major factor as to why this movie will actually make it to fruition.
I couldn’t be more excited to see this all-star cast shine in the new indie dramedy, Girl Most Likely. As seen on PerezHilton.com, here’s the newest trailer for the upcoming film.
The trailer was removed at the request of Lionsgate. Apparently it was a leaked version that was not meant to be released. Stay tuned for the official trailer when it becomes available.
