David Alan Grier Lands Role In CBS Comedy ‘Bad Teacher’

David Alan Grier is set to join the cast of Bad Teacher, CBS’ comedy series adaptation of the hit 2011 movie with the same name.

Just as in the hilariously funny movie, the pilot centers around a sexy, snobby, “foul-mouthed” woman, who takes on a teaching job as a means of finding a new husband.  This time the “bad teacher,” originally played by Cameron Diaz, will be a divorcee instead of a dumped girlfriend.

Deadline confirmed that Grier will play the school’s naive principal, John Michael Higgins character in the movie.

Bad Teacher will be scribed by Hilary Winston and produced by the film’s writers/producers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.

David Alan Grier is well known for his role on the famously funny sketch comedy show In Living Color, created by brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans.

The comedic actor was recently nominated for a Grammy award for the cast recording of The Gershwins’ “Porgy & Bess.”  Grier appeared in several other TV shows, including Martin, My Wife and Kids, and Bones.  He was also a celebrity contestant on season eight of Dancing with the Stars, where he was eliminated in the fifth week.

At best, David Alan Grier could be considered only mildly funny, so it will be interesting to see what he does with his new Bad Teacher role.
