Oprah Injured – Oprah Winfrey injured her back yesterday trying to lift a large birthday present from good friend Tyler Perry.
So what do you get the woman who already has (and can afford) everything and anything she wants? According to Tyler Perry you get her a giant floral arrangement and a strained back.
Oprah turned 59 on Tuesday, but it wasn’t until the next day that she received her birthday gift from Tyler Perry.
The 43-year-old actor, director, and screenwriter sent the famous talk show host a large bouquet of flowers… that’s right flowers.
Of course it’s pretty hard to get a bundle of flowers large enough to strain someone’s back, so we’re assuming that whatever the flowers were in is what was heavy enough to injure Oprah’s back.
Whatever it was, it was enough to have Perry feeling awful about the mishap.
“I Feel So Bad,” the man behind Madea wrote on Facebook. “I like to send really large flower arrangements to people for whatever occasion. Well, I sent one to Oprah yesterday for her birthday. She strained her back picking it up.”
Now before you think the “Alex Cross” actor is trying to be funny, he went on to ensure Facebook that this was not a joke. The large arrangement of flowers indeed injured Oprah’s back and forced her to spend the rest of her day in bed.
“No Joke!” Perry continued. “Feel better Oprah, Happy birthday. Sorry.”
For next year he doesn’t plan on ditching his tradition of sending flowers, but he’s definitely planning on downsizing.
“Next year I’m sending her one rose,” he concluded along with a smiley face emoticon.
While Oprah would probably be just as happy with one rose, she did take to Twitter to let her friend know that he shouldn’t feel bad for the large gift.
“@tylerperry no need to feel bad, love the roses and got an extra day in bed,” she tweeted. “Can you say #icepack.”
The day before the giant bouquet of roses threw her back out, Oprah was enjoying simply lounging around the house with her longtime partner Stedman Graham.
“Enjoying lunch with Stedman,” she tweeted on her birthday, Jan. 29, along with a photo of them together. “No plan to leave p.j.’s all day.”
It was also clear that Mr. Perry wasn’t the only one to send the media mogul flowers. She tweeted a photo of herself surrounded by other floral arrangements along with the caption, “Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes.”
Meanwhile, Oprah and the “Why Did I Get Married” director will soon become business partners as well. The two sealed the deal for Perry to partner with OWN to provide some original scripted programming on the network.
He will be executive producing, writing, and directing two new scripted series in hopes of helping to boost viewers for the OWN network.
