Two Tyler Perry projects, a one-hour drama titled, The Haves and The Have Nots, and a half-hour comedy series, Love Thy Neighbor, are set to debut on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN cable network station on May 29.
Last year, Perry brokered a deal with OWN to develop a series of programming and other projects for the cable channel.
The new half-hour comedy series Love Thy Neighbor includes cast members Jonathan Chase, Palmer Williams, Patrice Lovely, Kendra C. Johnson, Andre Hall and Darmirra Brunson.
“The show will be set at Love’s Diner, where every day the menu serves up good food, great laughs, valuable life lessons and a whole lot of love for its many neighbors,” according to a summary report.
The Haves and the Have Nots, the one-hour drama series will follow both an affluent family and a impoverished one. The series will show the well-off Cryer family and the poor family of Hanna, their housekeeper, and the obstacles and secrets that exist within both families.
The Haves and the Have Nots will be headlined by John Schneider as Jim Cryer, the head of the Cryer family. No other castings have been made for the show at this time.
