Just when you thought this years Academy Awards couldn’t get any more musically explosive, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron book the one and only, Barbara Streisand.
Barbra Streisand will join a long list of exciting performers for the 85th annual Academy Awards. Adele will perform her theme from Skyfall during a James Bond tribute, while Norah Jones is set to sing “Everybody Needs A Best Friend” from Ted. Both songs are nominated for ‘Best Original Song.” As we told you last week, there will also be a tribute to musicals made into movies. Selected musical numbers from Chicago, Dreamgirls, and Les Misérables will be brought to life during the telecast.
With two Academy Awards to call her own, Streisand is no stranger to the Oscars. She won Best Actress for Funny Girl in 1968 and best Original Song from A Star Is Born in 1977. Per Deadline.com, performing at the 2013 Academy Awards will be the Funny Girl’s first Oscar performance in 36 years. The last time she sang at the show she performed her Oscar winning song ‘Evergreen’ in 1977.
No news yet on what she’ll be singing in this years telecast, but you can bet it will be phenomenal.
