January Jones Doubts Role in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

A new report from Collider has claimed January Jones does not think she will be reappearing in Bryan Singer’s heavily anticipated sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, the aptly named X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Bryan Singer has had his hands full with Days of Future Past, a storyline that will attempt to bridge the gap between Matthew Vaughn‘s period piece disguised as a superhero flick, X-Men: First Class, and Singer’s own contributions to the franchise, 2000’s X-Men and 2003’s X2. In doing so, he’s contacted such stars as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman, promising to put them alongside such new stars as John McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.

January Jones, who played Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, still isn’t quite sure whether or not she fits into Bryan Singer’s plans. The actress’s character was positioned as one of Magneto’s acolytes at the end of First Class, but the call to reprise her role has yet to be made.

“I don’t know that I’m in it,” she said. “I don’t think Emma’s in this one. Well they haven’t told me if I am! I wouldn’t put it past them though, I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there.”

It would be not at all surprising if Bryan Singer and Co. are keeping cast listings under heavy wraps. It was only a few months ago that Patrick Stewart dropped the ball on Singer’s clever plans to join the story lines. January Jones, however, doesn’t think that has anything to do with it.

“I think it’s more about James [McAvoy] and Michael [Fassbender] and then Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellen], and I think it’s gonna go back and forth with those so I don’t think Emma’s in those bits,” she said. “I don’t know, I really don’t know.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past still has a long way to go. Pre-production for the film has only just begun and the finished product is not due out until July 2014. That leaves plenty of time for January Jones and perhaps others to get that fateful casting call. What do you think? Does January Jones — and Emma Frost — stand a chance of making in Days of Future Past? Because we don’t know, we really don’t know.
