Police have arrested a Villa Rica, Ga., man in connection with Sunday’s stabbing outside the Georgia Dome.
Contrary to previous reports, the altercation had nothing to do with the Falcons’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game, said a Dome official.
“Investigators believe at this time that the disagreement started over food at a tailgate,” Dome spokesman Jason Kirksey said in a statement.
Neither James Lewis McCoy, 46, nor the unidentified man he’s charged with stabbing attended the game, Kirksey said. The victim, 35, remains in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.
