Rapper Kid Cudi To Star In Movie 'Need for Speed'

As if there aren’t already enough rappers stinking up Hollywood films with their horrible acting, another one has just landed a role in a new movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kid Cudi has signed on to join actor Aaron Paul in the upcoming film Need for Speed.

Need for Speed is a high-intense racing film based on the Electronic Arts video game series. In the movie, Paul plays a two-bit street racer, who after being framed for the death of a friend, joins a New York-to-Los Angeles race to get revenge. The rapper turned actor will play a member of the racer’s crew.

Cudi has made acting appearances in the past, he had minor roles on HBO’s How to Make It in America and One Tree Hill.  Besides Cudi and Paul, actors Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek and Harrison Gilbertson have already committed to the project. Dominic Cooper and Imogen Poots are producing the film, and Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is directing.

Need for Speed is slated to hit theaters February 7, 2014. This will be the testament of whether Cudi could redeem some respect for the rappers who made the transitions to acting. It’s doubtful, going by their track records.
