Josh Brolin Jumps Aboard 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For'

A recent report from Deadline has confirmed that another big name has joined Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, upping the ante for all star casts and stellar ensembles: Oscar nominee Josh Brolin.

Dimension Films already announced last night that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will also be joining the Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez directed film. It only makes sense that yet another big name has joined the likes of Dennis Haysbert, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, and Jessica Alba.

There is, however, quite a catch. Josh Brolin will be taking on the role of Dwight McCarthy, a role previously played by Clive Owen. While this news may incite immediate fears surrounding unnecessary cast replacements in sequels, Brolin taking on the role does actually come with reason. In Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and is forced to watch his life go straight down to hell. The story takes place well before Dwight’s storyline in 2005’s Sin City and will explain how Dwight came to have a dramatically different (younger?) face.

“Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and “A Dame To Kill For” is a defining episode in his life. We’re looking forward to Josh Brolin’s take on Dwight,” said Rodriguez and Miller.

While the news surrounding Josh Brolin’s addition is quite fetching, we have a feeling it’s only a matter of time before even more names start being mentioned. No one has been cast for whoever Ava Lord is, at least not in the public eye. We’ll be sure to let you know when that happens, as well as whether or not she’s the certain “Dame” worth killing for. In the meantime Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is still set to hit theaters October 4.
