Halle Berry to be Recognized in The 2013 BET Honors Awards

Halle Berry to be honored at BET Honors AwardsThere’s finally some good news for Halle Berry, as she will be recognized at the 2013 BET Honors Awards. The BET Honors Awards acknowledges African American performers, artists and educators in top levels in the fields of music, literature, entertainment, education and more. The Academy Award winning actress will be honored for her contribution and success in the entertainment and film industry.

Along with Berry, legendary R&B singer Chaka Khan; basketball star Lisa Leslie; and world-reknown preacher T.D. Jakes will be among those recognized for their exceptional contributions as well. Gabrielle Union is set to host the 2013 BET Honors Awards, which will air on February 11.

During this year’s award ceremony, First Lady Michelle Obama participated by presented Maya Angelou with her ‘Honors Award’. No word on whether the First Lady will participate in next year’s production.

It seems like this year is ending on a good note despite the Thanksgiving day brawl that put her name back on the front pages of magazines everywhere. Over the holiday, Halle Berry’s new fiance Olivier Martinez put his skill as trained boxer to use on Gabriel Aubry’s face after an argument over moving Berry’s daughter Nahla to France permanently. France is Martinez’s native country and he wanted his soon-to-be new family to relocate there. A judge ruled in Aubrey’s favor, banning the couple from relocating Nahla to France.

Tension abounded and erupted that fateful day, ending in a slew of restraining orders, accusations, and plenty of media coverage. The trio settled their differences without criminal charges and for the time being, Berry’s daughter gets to enjoy all the adults in her life acting like…well, adults.

Halle Berry as Christmas Mascot for EllenFor her latest role, Halle took a drastic departure from Academy Awarding winning performance in Monster’s Ball. The beauty was be covered head to toe in costume. While that sounds a lot like her roles as Storm in the ‘X-Men’ series or her ‘Catwoman’ costume days, it’s definitely not. Berry was the Christmas Mascot on the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’. Not surprisingly, her character’s name was Holly Berry. During the taping, the audience had no idea Berry was the celebrity inside the costume and the actress gave a great comedic performance.

This is a Christmas secret that someone failed to keep as the big reveal was scheduled to happen on January 3, 2013 on an upcoming Ellen show. However, it’s a big boost for Halle’s image, which had taken a hit due to all the Thanksgiving day drama.

Hopefully by kicking off 2013 with The BET Honors Awards, Berry might have a more successful and less contentious year than she did in 2012.
