Rihanna has reached a new milestone, with her album Unapologetic becoming her first to reach the number one spot on the Billboard charts. The Def Jam artist’s previous six studio releases have spawned a dozen number one tracks, but had never breached the number one album position. Unapologetic sold 238,000 copies during the week of Thanksgiving, beating her previous first week best of 207,000 in 2010 with Loud. Seven albums in seven years is a feat for any artist, but the numbers say that fans can’t get enough of Rihanna.
Wait!!!!! What the F—?!!!! #UNAPOLOGETIC just debuted at #1 in AMERICA!!!!! My first number 1 album there!!! Thank you Navy, u deserve it,” she told her loyal followers on Twitter after the news came in. “I’m legit crying like a p—y right now!! #UNAPOLOGETIC”
After finishing off her 777 tour in New York last week Rihanna spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Berlin with her not quite ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. Brown was on the German leg of his Carpe Diem tour, and spent the holiday night performing in the O2 World arena. The pair spent the evening at Berlin’s Adaigo nightclub.
Neither Rihanna nor Chris Brown has come out to confirm the nature of their relationship, but they certainly have been spending a lot of quality time together. Days after tweeting a picture of a shirtless Brown over the Thanksgiving weekend, Rihanna uploaded a picture of her new gold Rolex watch to her instagram, a display Brown matched with a photo of his own new Rolex piece.
Following the highly successful release of Unapologetic, Rihanna will be launching her new fragrance “Nude” this weekend. The first 300 customers to buy a bottle of the $59 scent will be able to take a photograph with Rihanna at the Century City Macy’s in Los Angeles. The star will be signing the photos between 5:30 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, and the fans will receive a free copy of the new album.
