Angela Bassett Signs On To Star In 'White Bird In A Blizzard' Alongside Gabourey Sidibe

Yesterday, Angela Bassett announced on her Facebook that she joined Gabby Sidibe in the upcoming Greg Araki directed film, White Bird In A Blizzard.

The actress posted:

“Filming the new Gregg Araki movie today with Gabby Sidibe, very excited!”

White Bird In A Blizzard is an upcoming feature which is based on a novel of the same name by Laura Kasischke. The film will tell the story of a troubled young woman whose life changes following the strange disappearance of her mother. For those who are unfamiliar with the book, Amazon describes White Bird In A Blizzard as:

When Katrina Connors’ mother walks out on her family, Kat is surprised but not shocked; the whole year she has been “becoming sixteen” – falling in love with the boy next door, shedding her babyfat, discovering sex – her mother has been slowly withdrawing. As Kat and her impassive father pick up the pieces of their daily lives, she finds herself curiously unaffected by her mother’s absence. But in dreams that become too real to ignore, she’s haunted by her mother’s cries for help. Finally, she must act on her instinct that something violent and evil has occurred – a realization that brings Kat to a chilling discovery.

Besides Bassett and Sidibe, White Bird In A Blizzard will feature a cast that includes Shailene Woodley, Eva Green, Shiloh Fernandez, and Christopher Meloni.
