Last Sunday, Denzel Washington starred Flight premiered as the closing night film of the New York Film Festival. Subsequently, there has been Oscar talk of an anticipated battle between Washington and Daniel Day-Lewis, from the film Lincoln, which will open on November 9.
In the Robert Zemeckis directed Flight, Washington plays a commercial airline pilot with a drinking and substance abuse problem, which comes to light after he executes an emergency landing, rescues the passengers, and becomes a big hero. His drug abuse problem comes to fore-front after the FAA does an thorough investigation into the case.
Don Cheadle, Tamara Tunie and Garcelle Beauvais are co-star in the film.
Below are two clips of Flight. The first shows the pilot’s attempt to pull the plane out of a dive that is headed directly towards the ground. The other clip is the aftermath of the event, which shows fame building for the pilot as his injured body limps around the hospital room.
